Check out some of the best events taking place across the State in the coming months!
Parkes Elvis Festival 7 – 11 January
Celebrating the legacy of Elvis Presley in Parkes since 1993, this event is held annually in January to coincide with the King of Rock and Roll’s birthday. More than 20 years later, celebrations in honour of Elvis’ 80th birthday in 2015 will be an exciting carnival experience featuring street parades, markets, music, dancing, and countless Elvis impersonators.
Tamworth Country Musical Festival 16 – 25 January
Tamworth hosts the largest celebration of country music in Australia during this 10 day festival filled with live performances. Take a stroll along Peel Street where more than 600 buskers converge on the town’s main road. The event’s diverse program schedule contains more than 2,500 individual events including concerts, record launches, bush poetry readings, music exhibitions and even bull-riding.
Australian Bowl-Riding Championships 5 February
Australia’s national skateboarding competition is held at Bar Beach in Newcastle. See some of the country’s best bowl skateboarders compete across four different divisions: masters, pro/amateur open, womens, and under 18s.
Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour 6 – 8 February
Considered the spiritual home of Australian motorsport, the town of Bathurst hosts The Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour on the iconic Mount Panorama racetrack. As one of the most prestigious races on the international GT calendar, the annual event tests the limits of endurance and performance, attracting a large number of international and Australian entrants. The event is held over three days and also includes three different support race categories: Radical Sportscars, Formula Ford and Improved Production.
Orange F.O.O.D Week 10 – 19 April
A 10 day celebration of the Orange district’s outstanding food and wine. The event showcases the producers, products, local chefs and restaurants that have given Orange its reputation for fantastic food and fresh produce. Enjoy farm gate tours, cooking demonstrations, night markets and producer dinners. The signature 100 Mile Dinner features dishes made from local produce sourced from within a 100 mile radius of Orange.
Xterra Asia Pacific Championship 18 – 19 April
The beachside town of Callala Beach in Jervis Bay hosts the Xterra Asia Pacific Championship, a series of off-road triathlon races that include open water swimming, mountain biking and trail running in the spectacular natural environment of the South Coast. This test of endurance will see participants compete for the titles of national and Asia Pacific champion.
