The region of Orange has quickly proven itself to be one of the most deliciously indulgent areas in Australia, and it’s out to protect and build its reputation this October 17-27 during Orange Wine Week.
Orange, where the wine flows freely and the food only falls under the ‘heavenly’ category, is just a few hours from Sydney and is well worth the trip for any food and wine lover.
For 10 jam-and-wine-packed days, the festival takes the definition of a week and stretches it for a few extra days for visitors to enjoy the festivities.
Main events on at Orange during this time include a host of public wine tastings, a night market packed with a veritable Aladdin’s cave of edible treasures and the option to take a Terroir Tour.
Thursday October 17 is sure to be a highlight of the event with the Orange Wine Show presentation black-tie dinner open to anyone ready to fork out for a ticket and get their forks into some of the mouth-watering and sumptuous dishes presented by hatted chefs Simonn Hawke and Shaun Arantz.
For a more affordable option, you can head along to the Orange Show Pavilion to taste all of the award-winning wines and chat with the makers and growers behind these tasty drops. This year will be the first time a masterclass is included in the tasty tasting event, so don’t miss the chance to up your wine knowledge and try some of the fine vinos on offer.
The night markets are always a hit with everyone who attends. Over 40 stalls compete for your attention by trying to offer the most tempting tastes every night, all the while live music adds atmosphere and masses of people slowly fill up on nibbles from as many vendors as they can manage.
To get the full experience, make sure you’ve booked your Orange accommodation well in advance. There are 10 days of food and wine events on in this delectable area and you won’t want to miss a lick of it.
