27 February 2014
The Newcastle Showground will be buzzing with stalls, entertainment and activities for all ages as part of the NAB Newcastle Regional Show on from Friday, 28 February to Sunday, 2 March, 2014.
The Show has been a staple of Newcastle’s annual calendar of events since 1902, showcasing the best of local produce and talents.
This year’s Show theme is ‘Healthy Hunter’, so come wearing something comfortable and get ready to get active. The Show’s extensive sports program features tai chai, rock climbing, paint ball, 1 on 1 panna football, aerobics, line dancing and zumba for all the family. Former Newcastle Knights rugby league player, Robbie O’Davis, will also be there leading a boot camp experience that promises to make you sweat!
Interactive cooking demonstrations show how food doesn’t have to be tasteless to be healthy. The Bubble Muffin Kids Cooking Club will be on stage throughout the weekend entertaining children and teaching them practical and positive food habits. The IGA True Colours Cooking competition will also put the spotlight on kids and food, with students invited to prepare their best ‘Delicious Desserts’ or ‘The Main Event’ meals.
Check out the events in the ring area, which will have everything from motocross to wagon racing, horse events to classic car parades and spectacular fireworks. Other program highlights include the rides and showbags, an art and handcraft exhibition, the Newcastle Show Girl competition and agricultural traditions such as the stud beef cattle competition.
The Show’s farm animals are always a crowd pleaser and this year will be no different. Your regular Show favourites will all be there so make sure you meet them – feed a chicken, milk a goat, groom a miniature donkey and bottle feed baby Alpacas and piglets.
Kids under five are admitted to the Show for free and adult general admission tickets are $12 each. Early bird tickets will be available for purchase for $10 at the gate from 9am to 3pm on Friday only.
Grab your family and friends, get your tickets and prepare for fun and action in Newcastle this weekend.
