As the weather warms up in NSW and summer is on its way, we hit the road and find out what’s on across the state this November. Here are some of the best events taking place, from the NSW North Coast to Country NSW.
This fabulous food, wine and jazz festival is held in Nelson Bay, one of Port Stephens’ prettiest towns. This community event showcases the best in local wines, beers and food, on the spectacular d’Albora Marina waterfront and around Nelson Bay. The festival includes live jazz, cooking demonstrations and even a three course lunch cruise, accompanied by a jazz band.
This is one of the state’s top regional running events, with $13,000 in prize money to be won. Carcoar, half an hour from Orange and Bathurst hosts its’ running festival each year, including an ultra marathon, marathon, half marathon and a kids running event. The Carcoar Cup course runs along the town’s main street, which is lined with charming shops and heritage buildings, as well as through idyllic countryside.
Head to the Shoalhaven for the Adventure Racing World Championship 2016, a non-stop 600km course of trekking, mountain biking, kayaking and navigation held over four and a half days. Teams from over 30 countries will compete in a race like no other; no mandatory stops, no dark zones and no optional controls. It’s adventure racing at it’s best and well worth checking out.
The annual Australian leg of the FIA World Rally Championship returns to the beautiful Coffs Coast. This epic competition features some of the world’s greatest drivers competing in some of the toughest and most varied conditions in the world, with teams from all over the world including Korea, Britain, France and Germany. The race’s viewing points are easily accessible from Coffs Harbour and surrounds, and there’s also plenty of live entertainment.
Head to the small town of Forbes, near Parkes, for one of NSW’s top regional music festivals, Vanfest. Multi-award winning and multi-platinum selling duo Angus and Julia Stone are headlining, and the lineup also includes chart toppers Drapht, The Rubens and Urthboy, with more artists still to come. Accommodation-wise, there’s pre-pitched camping or the option to bring your own tent.
