July in NSW is jam-packed with events, from spectacular winter festivals to thrilling sporting events. Check out some of the top things to do in NSW this July.
Get into the winter spirit at the Bathurst Winter Festival. Over two weeks, the Bathurst CBD will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with a winter playground and its buildings lit up with dazzling illuminations. Carve a few laps around the ice skating rink, ride the giant ferris wheel, and enjoy a magical ride on the two-storey carousel.
Cheer on the student athletes at the Eastern University Games in Newcastle. The largest of three regional games, the young athletes will compete for glory in a number of categories, including basketball, hockey, tennis, indoor cricket and volleyball. Winning teams will go on to compete in the Australian University Games in September.
Head to the North Coast to see the brightest in the surf world compete at the annual Australian Surf Festival. This prestigious festival will see over 500 competitors take to the waves at Tweed Heads. Surfers will compete in a range of disciplines including shortboard, longboard, loggers and body board heats.
Take a trip to Hunter Valley Gardens to experience a beautiful winter wonderland. Here, you can skate around a giant ice rink, build a snowman in the Snow Play Zone, and ride the amazing ice toboggan. There will be lots of fun activities for the whole family, including a super slide and an arcade alley, plus lots of delicious food and drink to keep you warm and satisfied.
Come and support the future stars of women’s soccer this July. The National Youth Championships for Girls showcases the best 13- and 15-year-old female soccer players from all across Australia. This annual event has been held in Coffs Harbour for over a decade and is the primary national football competition for young girls in Australia.
