Now in its sixth year, the event is split up into two races: the Tour de Tweed features competitive cyclists, while the Tweed Gran Fondo is aimed at social riders.
The Tour de Tweed is open to all members of Cycling Australia and involves several stages across uniquely challenging terrains. The men’s section is a five-stage tour over four days, involving more than 370 km of bike tracks. Women compete in a four-stage tour over three days, covering more than 200 km of terrain. The stages feature a combination of road races, a time trial, and a criterium (a bike race held on a short course).
The Tweed Gran Fondo is a mass participation event that encourages anyone who enjoys a pedal to take part on Saturday, 17 May. It’s a great event to do with family and friends, or challenge yourself in a Timed Personal Challenge. Choose from three courses; the trails vary in degrees of difficultness with distances ranging from 53 to 152 km. The courses have been designed so each participant can enjoy the stunning views of the area. Registrations are open until the morning of the event.
Book your accommodation in the Tweed Area and grab your bike to join in the social riding event, or follow the bike trails to take in the stunning scenery around the region.
