I grew up in the small coastal town of Lennox Head in northern New South Wales, just south of Byron Bay. Understandably, this means I love the ocean and when it comes to photography there’s little else that can match the inspiration of the infinitely changing sea. If there’s one thing you can guarantee about the ocean, is that it is different every day.
There is no doubt in my mind that living in such a beautiful location helped advance my photography. As much as I love travelling, I can’t get enough of this place, which is why I often visit the same spots over and over again.
I find that I rarely plan a photo. I might have an idea in my head or I might try to guess what’s going to happen with the light, but exploring a location is such a huge part of photography for me and one of the aspects that I enjoy the most. I usually just go for a wander with my camera and see what I find.
In places like these, I usually don’t have to look for too long.
