New South Wales is synonymous with adventure. There are so many breathtaking things to do that it was a task to whittle my list down to these favourites:
Skydive the Beach, Wollongong
Experience the thrill of freefall at more than 200km/hr for up to 65 seconds, and then float under canopy for 5-7 minutes soaking up the spectacular views of Wollongong and the Southern Sydney beaches. The drop zone is located just one hour south of Sydney, with tandem skydiving from Australia’s highest altitude of up to 15,000ft, directly over North Wollongong beach.
Power through the Australian bush on a quad bike and feel the air rush over your face. Adventurers as young as 12-years-old can either tackle the specially designed racing track or explore the many bush trails on offer.
Thundaraft, Port Stephens
Cruise out the headlands of Tomaree and Yacaaba, then hold on, as twin 200HP engines take you jumping over the waves – up to three metres high! – past secluded ocean beaches, volcanic outcrops, and islands.
Canyoning and abseiling, Blue Mountains Adventure Group
Appreciate the beauty of the sandstone cliffs, dramatic waterfalls, and hidden canyons that make up the Blue Mountains, while on a thrilling canyoning and abseiling adventure. In a single tour with Blue Mountains Adventure Group you’ll experience all of those different environments first-hand.
TreeTops Adventure Park
Tackle a series of more than 90 challenges and over a dozen flying foxes at the Treetops Adventure Park in Western Sydney (with locations also in the Central Coast and Newcastle). Zip through the trees and be challenged by obstacles strung up to 15 metres from the forest floor. Check out my video – it’s harder than it looks!
LatiTube at Wet n’ Wild, Sydney
With so many amazing amusements to choose from at Wet n’ Wild Sydney, you’re in for an adventure. On the LatiTube ride, you’re in control, so it’s as much fun as you can make it! Surfing water high and low, ride a small foam board and “get tubed” as they turn on the water jets and form a barrel of liquid around you. It’s an incredible workout and experience.
From Sydney, to the Blue Mountains, in the country and across all of the coast, NSW is brimming with adventure activities that are sure to get your adrenaline running!
