Waterfalls & treetop adventures

Surrounded by spectacular waterfalls and green countryside, breathtaking wonders unfurl from Robertson's perch on the Illawarra escarpment. Have a picnic at pretty Nellies Glen and relax to the sound of the cascades. Nature lovers will also enjoy the Rainforest walking track in the Robertson Nature Reserve. For a memorable adventure, visit Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures, a 10-minute drive from Robertson, where you can soar on Australia's highest zipline and walk along the 1.5-kilometre Treetop Walk, 30 metres above the ground.

Country charm

Take a step back in time on the Robertson Heritage Walk, passing the town's heritage sites like the Post Office and Police Station. Explore more local history at the National Trust-listed Robertson Heritage Railway Station. Don't miss the Big Potato, a quirky local landmark built in 1979 to promote the town's abundance of red soil potatoes. In 2025, it was covered with a bright pink pig mural to mark the 30th anniversary of the movie Babe.

Get a taste of country life at The Swallow's Nest, a working farm that could have been pulled from a fairytale. Brush the highland cows, feed the chickens and pat the horses on a farm tour or join a creative workshop. Find more inspiration at Green Door Studios, a beautiful space that's open to artists and runs regular classes in painting, embroidery, jewellery making and more.

Eat & drink

Taste the delicious produce from Robertson's rich farmland at its top cafes and eateries. Moonacres is an award-winning restaurant with a seasonal paddock to plate menu, using ingredients from their own garden and local producers. There's more local produce on the menu at Roberto's, specialising in Sicilian seafood and Florentine meats. Gibson of Robertson is a relaxed cafe by day and a sparkling cocktail bar by night.

Enjoy some rustic charm matched with fine food in a beer garden at the Robertson Public House or sit down to high tea in grand 1920s surrounds of The Robertson Hotel. Come back later for cocktails in its Gatsby-style bar. Pick up a pie at the famous Robertson Pie Shop or a toastie (and some cheese to take home) at The Dairy Shed. Getting there

Robertson is less than two hours' drive from Sydney and just over two hours from Canberra. You can also take the train direct from Sydney to Moss Vale and connect via coach, with the whole journey taking around three hours. There's also a direct coach from Canberra, which takes two hours and 20 minutes.
