The third Football Writers' Festival - celebrating football (soccer), writing and ideas - with top authors, journalists, administrators and opinion leaders debating and discussing our game of opinions. The theme for 2022 is 'Our Football, Our Culture'.

The Festival is also combined with the Michael Cockerill Oration and the 'Portraits in Football' photographic exhibition to be held the evening before.

The Michael Cockerill Oration is named in honour of the longstanding former 'Sydney Morning Herald' football journalist who combined a passion for the sport with the news for nose and an ability to hold people to account. The inaugural oration is being delivered by Channel 10/ParamountPlus commentator and former player, Dr Andy Harper. The 'Portraits in Football' exhibition brings together a selection of photographs depicting Australian football history from the mid-20th century to the 1990s. It was formerly part of the Fairfax Media Archive and was sold to US interests, but has now been reacquired in Australia. This is the first exhibition of the photographs.

The Football Writers' Festival takes place over two days, comprising a series of one-on-one interviews, panel discussions and debates, as well as a Legends Happy Hour.
