Indigo Shibori Dyeing Masterclass
Sunday 23 February 2020
Bring gorgeous blues to life with this unique indigo shibori dyeing experience with local renowned textile artist Helena Geiger.
In this half day workshop, Helena will start by introducing Indigo Shibori Dyeing, the technique, tips and tricks on how to replicate this craft at home. Helena will also demonstrate different methods and what can be achieved - all while the vat is getting ready. This will give everyone time and inspiration for the pieces they will want to make. You will then move on to practising what you have just learned!
You will get four 50 centimetre square white cotton pieces of fabric to try out different techniques (including clamping, using elastic bands, tracing shapes). These pieces can then be framed or used for quilting for example or even to make cushion covers.
You will then also get to dye a calico bag and a muslin scarf to have another go! And feel free to bring some of your white cotton like a tee-shirt to make some more!
This is a one of a kind experience: Helena Geiger, local to Jervis Bay, has over 20 years devoted to creating stunning work with textile design.
