The Line of Lode Lookout and Miner's Memorial is a dramatic, iconic structure on the edge of the mullock heap that dissects Broken Hill.

The Line of Lode was the largest ore body of silver, lead and zinc ever discovered on the planet and it gave rise to Australia's industrial history and brought forth enormous wealth for New South Wales. BHP was founded here in the early days and you can visit the ruin of the original BHP office.

The Miner's Memorial is a solemn reminder of the dangers of mining in the early days with 800+ miners who lost their lives working on the Broken Hill mines. The building itself is a metaphor for the underground lives of the miners, evoking the damp, claustrophobic underground environment!

While your there, don't forget to take a photo of the iconic BIG BENCH and take in the spectacular views over Broken Hill!
