Douglas Vale Historic Homestead is the oldest timber homestead in the Hastings Region, built 1862. Also the last remaining vineyard, dating from 1863. The homestead and its curtilage is classified by the National Trust of Australia and is included in Port Macquarie Hastings Council's list of Heritage Sites.

There is also a family connection to the oyster farming industry on the Hastings River.

The property is fully run by Volunteers. it is the only volunteer run homestead and vineyard in Australia.

Free tours of the Homestead and grounds are available on Opening Days of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

Tasting of wines produced from the vines are also available, and wine can be purchased on site.

Open days, wine sales and donations are critical to the ongoing conservation of the homestead. They hold three open days each year, the next one will be the Heritage Open Day on April 21 from 9:30am until 2:30pm.

Mobility

Caters for people with sufficient mobility to climb a few steps but who would benefit from fixtures to aid balance. (This includes people using walking frames and mobility aids)
