Thursday 29 July 2021 to Sunday 15 August 2021 (DAILY event)
The National Cartoon Gallery in Coffs Harbour in a unique partnership with the Japanese Embassy is hosting an exhibition of winning entries from the 14th International Manga Awards. These awards attract entries from Manga artists from all over Southeast Asia and have not been shown elsewhere in Australia.
The gallery has complemented this exhibit with invited Australian Manga artists contributing their own works, adding over 60 works to the exhibition, making this a truly international collaboration.
The growing interest in Manga, particularly amongst children and young adults has spread worldwide, so we are delighted with this opportunity to bring Manga to Coffs Harbour.
This exhibition will attract a growing number of young and not so you who are, Manga fans offering something quite different to our regular cartoon exhibitions.
We are delighted to be hosting two important visitors from the Japanese Embassy in Canberra, Mr Shutaro Omura, Minister, Deputy Chief of Mission and Mr Tatsushi Furuki, Second Secretary for the opening on 18th June at 6pm. To add a local flavour we have teamed with the Coffs Harbour Chapter of the Australia-Japan Society who will run workshops and add some cultural artifacts to the exhibition.
Opening night is Friday 18th June at 6pm with the exhibition running until 15 August, so plenty of time to organise a trip to Coffs Harbour for this special event.
