Built in 1909, this State Heritage-listed building showcases impressive architecture with wide verandas. This building served the people of the Coolamon district. The building operated as a general store until 1932. The Store remains as a visual reminder of the ingenuity and skill of local architects, builders and retail traders and their staff. The Store is a turn-of-the-century department store, where customers seated themselves on a stool before a long counter to be served by a white-aproned salesperson. The store departments included grocery, ironmongery, crockery, drapery, mercery, millinery, haberdashery, clothing, footwear and agricultural supplies. The Store highlights its original fittings including the Lamson Cash Railway. The Lamson Cash Railway System is a significant feature of retail history.

The Store is now home to a number of impressive collections and exhibitions. These include the Gullaman Collection, The Mavis Furner collection, The Garth Jones Collection, The Reg Godde Collection, Our Shire, Our Stories and the Coolamon RSL Museum.

The Up-to-Date Store’s social and historical significance was acknowledged with its listing on the State Heritage Register in 2006.
