Lines and Boxes

It is Jason’s birthday. It should have been a time of celebration, however, sisters Hazel and Jo lost their father the week before the birthday and the funeral was held the day before.
Hazel, riddled with guilt because she didn’t attend the funeral, tries to maintain control of the evening’s situation by pacifying Jo’s rage and uncontrolled anger.
Lines and Boxes examines the struggle of family over responsibility and deals with the complexity of power dynamics, intra-familial patterns of abuse, and the role of psychological abuse and also the snowball effect of isolation.
At the core of the story, you see two sisters who are involved in violent and controlling relationships; they are women in their late 20’s and early 30’s, which is within the age range where women are more likely to experience domestic violence. They struggle to end the cycle.
