Cancelled - Crookwell Potato Festival
Saturday 08 May 2021
***The Crookwell Potato Festival is cancelled***
The Crookwell Potato Festival is an educational and entertaining celebration of the local potato industry, bringing together local townsfolk, potato farmers and visitors together.
At close to 1000 metres elevation, with high rainfall and rich red basalt soils, Crookwell provides a perfect environment for growing premium potatoes. The cold climate means pests and diseases struggle and this, combined with rigorous, state of the art horticultural expertise and generations of farming experience, makes them famous for producing the highest quality certified seed potatoes.
Its not just about the spuds, this event is also a grand celebration of all their wonderful regional produce and heritage, featuring live music, cooking demonstrations, local potato sales, markets, vintage cars and much more. A major highlight of the event is the annual Charity Spud Auction, at which the first tubers of a newly released variety are auctioned off to raise money for local charity.
Crookwell comes alive over the weekend of the potato festival, with many other local events being held over the weekend, including an Art Show, book sales at the library, open days at the Heritage Railway Museum, live music at local pubs and clubs, and much more!
