Attraction - Aboriginal NSW, Historical Sites and Heritage Locations, Natural Attractions, Scenic Drives and Walks, Zoos, Sanctuaries, Aquariums and Wildlife Parks This amazing national park is one of the largest in New South Wales. Established in 1972, it lies in the north-western most corner of the state near the town of Tibooburra. ‘The Dog Fence’, the longest fence in the world and spanning three states, runs along the northern and western boundaries of the park.
Camp out in one of the well-maintained campgrounds; timber is a rare and precious resource in this fragile environment so to help protect it gas barbecues are provided in each of the campgrounds.
Walk to ‘Sturt’s Tree’ across Lake Pinnaroo and try to imagine what it might have been like for the first European explorers visiting Wangkumara country.
You can expect to see euros, kangaroos, emus, eagles, falcons, and many different parrots. There are several walks within the park as well as places to stop and quietly absorb something of this fragile and beautiful landscape.
Open Time Open at all times except after rain when roads may be closed.
