With large areas of protected wetlands, Cabarita has only limited development, creating a quiet, relaxed holiday atmosphere. Bounded by Nature Reserve to the north and west and the Pacific Ocean to the east, this typical coastal village of some 3000 residents represents a unique lifestyle.

It boasts many features such as bike tracks, coastal walkways, and littoral rainforests. Cudgen Lake, around behind the Cabarita Ski Gardens site is a very good area for children and families enjoying boating as the water is only very shallow and there are water tractors, canoes and catamarans for hire. There is a new Skateboard Park, headland, Barbecue Park and Picnic areas and uninterrupted views over the ocean; whale-watching is a local pastime.
