Sally Obermeder

Sally Obermeder is Sydney born and bred. Her passion for exploring this great city of ours made her a perfect fit for the Sydney Weekender team when she joined in 2005.

Since then Sally has taken on a number of varied roles at the Seven Network. Most days she can be found immersed in the latest celebrity and fashion news while she prepares her reports as the National Entertainment and Lifestyle Reporter for Today Tonight.

Sally can also be spotted on The Morning Show, chatting with Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies about her latest celebrity encounters and all the behind the scenes news.

Weekends find Sally back here at her original Channel Seven role, as travel reporter for Sydney Weekender. Sally is out on the road for this weekly travel and lifestyle show and she’s never shied away from the action. She’s raced 18 foot skiffs, shook her booty in a Bollywood dance class and has swum with dolphins. However we have discovered that Sally’s true calling lies in the land of shopping. Anything you want to know or buy from fashion to food, technology to toys, whether it’s markets or malls, we know Sally will find you the best bargains in town. Trust us, this girl knows how to shop!

Out on the road with Sydney Weekender, Sally says her favourite part of the job is meeting people from all walks of life and stepping into their shoes for a day, particularly when the day involves shopping!

Highly regarded as an accomplished speaker, Sally is sought after as Master of Ceremonies for awards nights, fashion launches and corporate functions. She’s worked with Westfield, Myer’s ‘Fashions on the Field’ and The Australian Tourism Association.

2011 saw the birth of Sally and her husband Marcus’s first child, Annabelle Grace. Only days before Sally discovered the horrific news that she had a rare and aggressive type of breast cancer. Sally then spent the next 12 months undergoing intensive chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. She is currently continuing her recovery to full health after being given the all clear in October 2012.

Sally loves being part of the Seven team and her genuine passion for entertainment, fashion and beauty has meant that in her many roles at Seven she has definitely found her calling.

Sally has recently launched a lifestyle blog, www.swiish.com.au which is a how-to guide for a fabulous and affordable life… Told you she’s passionate about shopping! The blog is rapidly becoming the place to go to be in the know about the best, latest and most affordable ways to live a fabulous life.

Sally is also very excited to be publishing her first book, Never Stop Believing, which will be released on May 1st 2013 through Allen & Unwin.
