The Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen

For the perfect Sunday dining experience, nothing beats a good old-fashioned roast. The Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen in Chippendale has recently been refurbished and they’re serving up some delicious roast dinners that will help keep you warm this winter.

,p>There are two different roasts on offer every Sunday including the classic roast lamb shoulder or a succulent pork belly with the crispiest crackling you’ve ever tasted. They both come with all the trimmings, including creamy mash, peas and roasted carrots. If you’re not in the mood for a roast there are lots of other fabulous dishes on offer here. Snuggle up in the intimate dining room and tuck into the sumptuous chicken truffle pie, handmade roasted beetroot ravioli with sage butter and walnut crumbs, or the Tasmanian salmon fillet with lentils, watercress and a beautiful orange and basil vinaigrette.

For something a little different and very Australian, there’s the wattle seed crusted kangaroo fillet. The tender fillet melts in your mouth and is served with sweet potato, pea vine and tomato and ginger chutney. Once you’ve had a taste of this place you might just find that dinner here becomes a Sunday ritual.

The Local Taphouse

For the perfect Sunday get-together, why not ‘Host a Roast’ with a group of your best mates at The Local Taphouse in Darlinghurst. You and your group will be given use of the private ‘Wilfred Room’, dedicated to the Taphouse’s ‘Patron Saint of Beer’. You’ll feel like you’re hosting your own intimate dinner party, except all the hard work is done for you.

Choose from the succulent roast pork, rare roast beef or a tender lamb and they’ll also plate up a selection of sides including Dutch baby carrots, broccolini, some of the best roast potatoes in town and even Yorkshire pudding. Once the dishes are ready and the table is set they’ll place the roast in the middle and everyone can help themselves, just like a real dinner party. After the roast it’s onto dessert and the sticky date pudding made with ginger beer and smothered in a rich butterscotch sauce is sure to hit the spot.

Don’t forget this is a Taphouse so you can wash down your tasty feast with one of the 20 craft beers on tap. The guys here are beer obsessed so you’ll also find some beautiful beers featured in the dishes. There’s beer in the herb encrusted beef cheek, served with dauphinoise potatoes and Dutch carrots and it’s even in the divine panna cotta made with Belgian fruit beer and served with macerated strawberries and a mint salad.
