For the ultimate family retreat get the kids in the car and head to Hosanna Farmstay, it’s just outside Murwillumbah on the North Coast of NSW. This place is a lush, 100 acre property where there are heaps of activities to entertain your troops. Best of all none of them involve TV or video games so it’s a great chance to get the kids outdoors and keep them active during the school holidays.

The absence of technology might be a little bit of a shock to their system to begin with, but just because they have to give up screens, doesn’t mean they have to give up games. There are heaps to choose from here, starting with Farmer’s Golf. It’s somewhere between ‘putt putt’ and actual golf and involves having to tackle a series of obstacles along the way, including crossing a creek and avoiding all the farm animals. ‘Katapult’ is another favourite, it’s a medieval style game which involves players catapulting tennis balls into their opponent’s forts, the kids will go crazy for this one.

On top of this the whole family can take a farm tour in an open top Land Rover, have a go feeding, petting and grooming the many animals that live on the property, go on a treasure hunt, kayak on the lake and finish up by making damper around the campfire. After such an action packed day you and your crew can crash for the night in a beautiful cabin or creek hut, or just pitch your own tent on the property. This place is an adventure wonderland that the kids are guaranteed to love.
