Delishus Tapas Restaurant

Want to taste some authentic Spanish tapas without having to take a trip overseas? Delishus Tapas Restaurant in Richmond is the real deal, serving up traditional style tapas that the locals are loving. Owner Jose Fernandez is inspired by the food of his home country and his passion is reflected in the amazing dishes being plated up here.

There’s lots of variety on the menu but there are a few items you simply must try. The ‘Tortilla’, a traditional Spanish omelette made with potatoes, onions and egg is a definite crowd pleaser, or try the ‘Pollo Rellenos’, a succulent chicken breast stuffed with a mix of semi dried tomatoes, basil, pine nuts and then topped with a rich, butter sauce. The ‘Empanadillas de Pato’ are a real treat, they’re little parcels of pastry filled with duck, served with a shaved fennel and orange salad and a tasty orange Cointreau dipping sauce. The specialty of the house is the ‘Croquetas de Jamon’, crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside with an explosion of Serrano ham, the flavours will transport you straight to Spain.

Finish the sharing theme with the ‘Postres Tapas’, a dessert plate featuring chocolate mousse, deep fried milk with cinnamon and lemon curd, strawberries and a Spanish style crème brulee. If you’re after a genuine experience of Spanish tapas then Delishus is your place

The Union Restaurant

You might have to look a little harder for this tapas treat but it’s definitely worth the effort. Tucked away behind a car park, up a stairway and through a red painted door is The Union Restaurant, a funky food and wine bar serving up a very impressive Spanish inspired tapas menu.

Owner and Chef Ross Dobson focuses on supporting local business so the kitchen here tries to get a lot of their produce from local suppliers. The menu features the freshest, seasonal ingredients and it’s designed for sharing, so make sure to bring a big group of friends. There’s haloumi served with orange, mint, pomegranate syrup and topped with crunchy walnuts and you can follow that with the chickpea fritter, topped with tahini and chilli jam. The souk spiced chicken kebab comes with toum, a garlic spread that’s so delicious it’s almost addictive, or try the empanadas packed with pork and chorizo and served with a side of chimichurri.

Between the relaxed vibe and authentic flavours, The Union Restaurant is the perfect destination for your next Spanish feast.
