The City of Sydney are hosting a series of fantastic and FREE workshops as part of their âGreen Villages' initiative. The workshops are designed to bring the community together and give people all the tools they need to live a greener, more sustainable life.
There are a number of different courses that will give your green thumb a workout. You can start with an âupcycling' course where you'll learn how to reuse old things and make them new again. They'll teach you the basic techniques necessary to upcycle chairs, stools and seat covers. For food lovers there's the âseed to plate' course. This one is great for people living in the inner city because it'll teach you how to grow food in small spaces. You'll learn how to make your own potting mix, grow veggies without using chemicals and what plants work best in small areas. You certainly don't need to live in the suburbs to have a thriving veggie patch!
The âworm farming and composting' workshop is another great option. Composting is a great way to get rid of all your old food scraps and it results in really nutrient rich soil that your plants will love. The workshops are held in a variety of community gardens and other venues around the city, so get involved and help make Sydney green this weekend.
