Silverton
Host: Mike Whitney

Head way outback with Tri State Safaris. If you’ve never been out this far west, the best way to look around is on a Tri State Safari. These tours are fantastic because your guides know this part of our state extremely well and have everything from the bus to your tucker sorted.

Head out on the one-day Broken Hill & Silverton Tour and you’ll be transported into the filming locations of some of the most iconic Australian movies of the past few decades. Silverton is home to the Silverton Hotel, which was built in 1884 and is seen in such films as Mad Max 2, Razorback, Dirty Deeds and more.

Speaking of Mad Max, Silverton local Adrian Bennett is so mad about Mad Max 2 that he’s opened up a museum devoted to it. Here you can see some of the props and even cars from the film, as well as plenty of other memorabilia. And if you want to encounter some more of Australia’s film history, drop into The Palace Hotel in Broken Hill – this is the filming location for much of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
