Botanic gardens and nature reserves in NSW
If you enjoy seeing a diversity of native plants and animals, or beautiful seasonal gardens in stunning natural locations, you’ll find plenty of botanic gardens, nature reserves and eco-friendly gardens in NSW.
At Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve near Coffs Harbour, you’ll see the breeding sites of thousands of muttonbirds; scuba dive in the waters around Julian Rocks Marine Reserve are grey nurse sharks and manta rays. Barren Grounds Nature Reserve near Fitzroy Falls has walking trails amidst native flora and birdlife. The Living Desert Sanctuary near Broken Hill is a sculpture site as well as being a flora and fauna sanctuary.
NSW gardens not to miss include Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens Mt Tomah, a stunning cool-climate garden and The Australian Botanic Garden Mt Annan near Sydney. Eco tours and garden tours are also available in NSW.
