Take the family to the zoo

Koalas at Taronga Zoo

Sydney is one of the best places in the world to see some extraordinary wildlife in modern zoos and aquariums. You'll be able to see most creatures that hop, skip, burrow and crawl across the land or swim underwater; you may be able to spot them in their natural environment too.

Introduce the kids to animals from around the globe at the famous Taronga Zoo Sydney, nestled in scenic parkland just 12 minutes from the city by ferry. Overlooking the magnificent Sydney Harbour, Taronga is truly a zoo with a view. Featherdale Wildlife Park, a 40-minute drive from the city centre, features more than 2,200 animals from over 300 species including little penguins and a 4.5 m saltwater crocodile. You can have your photo taken cuddling a koala or hand feeding kangaroos.

SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary are harbourside locations where you'll view aquatic life at close quarters without getting wet. Between May and November, book in for a whale-watching cruise from Sydney to spot migrating whales along the coast around Sydney, Manly and the Northern Beaches.

WILD LIFE Sydney is located next to the aquarium at Darling Harbour. There's always plenty going on here with keeper talks, daily feeding sessions, meeting koalas and other native Australian animals in their habitats.
