Family holidays by the beach in NSW
Around NSW there are many ways to enjoy a family holiday on the water, from exploring rivers by houseboat to canoeing across glassy mountain lakes. Let’s start with beaches. Learning to surf is great fun for kids – head to Land’s Edge Surf School on the South Coast or Central Coast Surf School during the school holidays at Umina, Avoca and Terrigal Beaches. Further north, Byron Bay Surf School and Kool Katz have surf camps for kids.
Other ways to have fun in the water are at Jamberoo Action Park near Kiama which has a huge wave pool, white-water rapids and giant water slides. Older kids will love sleeping on a houseboat on the Hawkesbury River, with stops for fishing, swimming and picnicking. Kids of all ages will enjoy fishing at Batemans Bay and estuaries throughout Eurobodalla or cruising along the Murray River aboard a historic paddle-steamer from Albury, Echuca-Moama, Swan Hill and Mildura.
