Driving on well-maintained roads is a pleasure. Even better are good roads that take your family through impressive natural scenery, including World Heritage areas. The spectacular 138 km
Grand Pacific Drive winds south from Sydney and is one of the easiest routes.
Attractions along the way include
Symbio Wildlife Park, where you can take behind-the-scene tours for encounters with koalas. At Bald Hill in Stanwell Park, children as young as 14 can tandem hang-glide with HangglideOz. Experience Wollongong's splendid beaches and Kiama's famous blowhole.
Greater Blue Mountains Drive is a series of trails that links Sydney with the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains. Head for Scenic World in Katoomba and ride the world's steepest incline railway into ancient Jamison Valley. Explore the Glow Worm Tunnel at Newnes Plateau, near Lithgow.
Legendary Pacific Coast drive, and just an hour from Sydney, is the gorgeous Central Coast. Take the family horseriding at Glenworth Valley and visit Elvis, a huge crocodile, at the Australian Reptile Park. Stay in holiday parks such as Budgewoi, Canton Beach, Norah Head and Toowoon Bay.
Travel to northern
Country NSW to discover Tamworth’s musical history and take a family photo in front of the iconic Big Golden Guitar.
