Taste, smell and touch rare fruits such as the chewing gum tree and chocolate pudding fruit at Tropical Fruit World, in the Tweed hinterland. NSW National Parks has a Discovery Tours program run by park rangers. Activities include nocturnal wildlife spotting, night-time poetry, spooky walks in historic sites, snorkelling and canoe adventures. Maybe you’d like to go star gazing at Narrabri Observatory; enjoy a daytime visit to Siding Spring Observatory near Coonabarabran.
There’s gold panning at Gunnadoo Gold Mine outside Orange or fossicking for sapphires at Bullock Mountain Homestead in Glen Innes. Have areal zoo adventure at Taronga Western Plains Zoo where you can go behind the scenes, hear keeper talks, and have exciting animal encounters.
