Sydney surf schools
It doesn't matter if it's your first time in the ocean or if you're a surfing enthusiast – you can enjoy an accredited surf school to help you improve your board skills, and you'll learn on some of the best surf beaches in the world!
Sydney's best surf schools
No visit to Sydney is complete without some time spent riding the waves, and here, you can choose from around 70 great surf beaches.
Need a lesson? Beginners can find accredited surf schools at many area beaches, each school offering its own unique techniques for teaching you how to catch a wave.
If you already know the basics, a Surfari may be just what you're looking for. The most popular adventure is the five-day excursion, but different packages are available. The trips which include accommodation, transport and equipment hire operate every week of the year. Alternatively, for a one-day guided surf safari, head to Manly.
Australian Open of Surfing
With Sydney's great reputation for surf, it's no surprise that the city hosts the Australian Open of Surfing in Manly every year in February. As well as watching the world's best surfers compete, the festival includes, skateboarding, BMX riding, live music and stalls.
Located near a great beginning surfer's beach in Gerroa on the NSW South Coast, Surf Camp Australia has provided overnight learn-to-surf camps since 1999. Camp packages include surfing instruction, surfing equipment, modern beachside accommodation and buffet-style meals and return transport from Sydney and Wollongong.
