Set in the heart of Country NSW, Tamworth is known as the country music capital of Australia, playing host to the Tamworth Country Music Festival each year. Held in mid January, the festival showcases more than 4,000 musical acts and attracts over 55,000 visitors annually, with an abundance of great of country, blue and roots music on show, as well as the ‘Golden Guitar Awards’, the biggest awards in Aussie country music.
The Tamworth region is known as a popular food and wine hub due to its agriculture industry, producing beef, lamb, poultry, grains and dairy. Tamworth is also an outstanding wine region, with more than 20 cellar doors to visit, focusing on cool climate varieties. There are food events throughout the year, but by far the highlight of the region’s food calendar is the Taste Tamworth Festival.
