Ahoy, I’m Dan. I grew up in Wollongong and am well-travelled along the South Coast of NSW. I’ve always had a love of the ocean, chasing waves with friends, up and down the coast and back again. I recently settled on the South Coast and love the variety of landscape on offer, along with the serenity and quietness of the area.
To me, photography is an art and an utter passion of mine, I frame my photos similar to how a painter would paint upon his canvas.
Most of the time, I try to steer clear of the mainstream locations that everyone photographs; however, if I end up at these popular areas, I tend to look for a completely different frame for the shot that I haven’t seen before.
I have a rare condition called ‘dystonia’ which is a mild form of cerebral palsy. It does hinder me somewhat and I have to limit myself from walking longer distances because of muscle tightening and a tendency to tire easily. This condition is also one of the main reasons I keep trying to make my mark as a photographer, as it has become a nice distraction and escape from my illness. I will always keep pushing forward with my craft.
I’ve had the opportunity to visit and explore The Central West as my father lives there and photograph some unique things in the outback. Sometimes photography is just ‘the right place at right time’ and I’ve definitely had some lucky moments which have been captured on screen as a permanent memory.
