Sakura Matsuri is a much loved event in the Cowra cultural calendar. It is a time when the beauty of nature in full bloom and the centuries old traditions of Japan are combined; and you are invited to enjoy the result.
Now in its 23rd year at the Cowra Japanese Garden, Sakura Matsuri has developed into a showcase of Japanese arts, crafts and cultural activities. Be part of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, learn the secrets of Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), calligraphy or bonsai, watch the skill of the martial art experts or see real Sumo wrestlers in action; these are just a few of the activities you can enjoy during this year's Sakura Matsuri festival.
The Cherry Blossoms flower long after Sakura Matsuri has finished and for those wishing to visit the garden at quieter times are recommend to visit in early to mid October.
