Minerama Fossicking and Gem Show
Friday 8 March to Sunday 10 March 2013
Minerama is run by a voluntary community committee with the aim of fostering all facets of the lapidary hobby. Well over 50 traders come to Minerama each year, with the larger commercial traders taking up space in the auditorium of the Glen Innes and District Services Club and the smaller hobby traders setting up outside, flowing into King George Oval.
Everything connected with the lapidary hobby can be seen and bought here, such as: fossils, minerals, uncut and cut gems, jewellery, findings, machinery, grinders, sanders, tumblers, grits, polishes and books.
Stay for a few days and make the most of the different field trips on offer. The Glen Innes District has in the past been a large tin and sapphire producer. Other minerals of note are quartz, both clear and smoky, bismuth, wolfram, beryl, topaz, zircon, garnet and arsenopyrite.
