The 96 Candles Ceremony is an annual commemoration of the loss of 96 men and boys in the 1902 Mt Kembla Mine Disaster. There will be candle lighting, musicians and short speeches.

The ceremony is held at the historic Windy Gully Cemetery, 129 Cordeaux Road, Kembla Heights, 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

No parking available. Free shuttle buses leaving from Mount Kembla Hotel and Kembla Heights Bowling Club from 5.30pm and returning after the ceremony.

Come well prepared for a chilly evening. After-ceremony meals can be booked at the Bowling Club and Mount Kembla Hotel is putting on hot toddies and nibbles.

The event is supported with funding from Wollongong City Council's Community Events program and Illawarra Coal, BHP Billiton.
