Arts, culture, heritage and lifestyle in Helensburgh
Helensburgh is the gateway to the Illawarra. It features an impressive Hindu temple and is bordered to the north by the Royal National Park.
About Helensburgh
Helensburgh is close to the natural splendours of the Royal National Park. Right on its doorstep are some lovely walking trails leading through rainforest and past waterfalls.
Since 1978, Helensburgh has been the home of the Sri Venkateswara Hindu Temple, a glistening white South Indian-style Hindu temple. Set on top of a hilly area, the temple has become the focal point for Sydney’s Hindu community, which holds regular festivals and celebrations there. Also don’t miss strolling the Wodi-Wodi Walking Track – a beautiful 6.5-km bushland trail with panoramic views. Nearby, Stanwell Park and Dapto are worth a visit.
