Family outing to Nan Tien Temple

Take the kids on an adventure of a different kind to one of the largest Buddhist temples in the southern hemisphere, the Nan Tien Temple at Berkeley. Travel by train from Central Station to Unanderra Station and then catch bus (Route 34) at Unanderra Shops.

Day trip to Wollongong

For $2.50 per person, your family can enjoy a fun day out with unlimited travel on Sydney's buses, trains, ferries and light rail every Sunday. Pack a picnic basket, bring buckets and spades and a picnic rug and you can enjoy a great day at the beach.

Less than 90km south of Sydney lies the state’s third largest city, Wollongong, and beyond that - miles of pristine, uncrowded beaches, all accessible using a Family Funday Sunday pass.

Every hour a CityRail train leaves Sydney Central Station, and makes the 1.5 hour trip to Wollongong. Once there, beach-based family activities await. You can enjoy swimming and surfing, fishing, walking or cycling.

A string of beautiful beaches – Stanwell Park, Austinmer, Corrimal - are all easy to get to by train. A highlight further south is the seaside town Kiama. Take the kids to the famous Blowhole to see – and hear – seawater as its spouts into the air.
