Events in Kiama
The Kiama area showcases its natural beauty and serene climate with a wide range of events in town and in the surrounding villages of Jamberoo, Gerringong and Gerroa.
The events and festivals are numerous around the end of year and the holiday season. The annual Gerringong Street Festival and Parade brings the Old School Park to life with this street party held around Christmas. Kiama puts on a kaleidoscope of colour and lights with New Year’s Eve fireworks at Black Beach lighting up the scenic Kiama Harbour. In February, Gerringong’s Stomping of the Grapes Festival at Crooked River Winery is a fundraiser for local charities.
Following the festivities of summer, autumn and winter offer cooler days in which to enjoy some of the region’s many sporting events. The Disabled Surfers Hands on Day is held around April at Gerroa’s Seven Mile Beach. The Blowhole Big Fish Classic, also held in April, offers more than $25,000 in prizes.
Kiama also hosts a variety of great music events including the Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival in March and Folk by the Sea in September.
