A broad and long beach with good visibility. It is considered a safe surfing beach with good "beach break". The best surfing conditions are offshore winds northwest/southwest. Beach break with anything much over 1.5 metres closing out. Choppy water with waves. Suitable for beginner to expert surfers(depending on conditions).
The beach is patrolled with volunteer and professional lifeguards from late September to April every weekend and midweek over summer holidays. Please check the Shellharbour Council website for full patrol times.
Shellharbour North Beach is easy to access with ample car parking available and extensive, well maintained grassed areas with family picnic and children's play areas.
