The Snowy Mountains region is a year-round destination. But in the cooler months, from June to October, it becomes a magical snow and adventure wonderland. Home to Australia's five highest peaks, including Mt Kosciuszko, and incredible alpine wilderness areas, the Snowy Mountains offers plenty of action on and off the snowfields.

Explore the magical Snowy Mountains

The cooler months are a great time to create fun-filled memories with family and friends in the Snowy Mountains, where you'll enjoy breath-taking alpine scenery and action-packed snow resorts. The area's four outstanding alpine resorts include Charlotte Pass, Perisher, Selwyn Snowfields and Thredbo. All are located within Kosciuszko National Park.

Enjoy a great range of snow activities on the snow fields, including snow tubing, snow shoeing, snowboarding, skiing and night skiing, progressive terrain parks and a scenic chairlift ride. First timers can go at their own pace on the beginners tracks, while seasoned skiers and snowboarders can enjoy some of the longest runs in the country.

There's plenty to do off-piste as well. Enjoy the best in après ski, with cosy fireside wine bars, fine dining and great winter shopping. Discover vibrant towns full of entertainment and nightlife, where you can sample great local wines, schnapps, beers, food and shopping as well as explore and find a variety of activities and attractions.

The central township of Jindabyne is full of activity during the snow season with restaurants, nightlife, cafes and shops. On the banks of Lake Eucumbene, Adaminaby is close-by to Selwyn Snowfields, home to the Big Trout and located near the incredible Yarrangobilly Caves.

Skiers, Thredbo

Celebrate the opening of the 2017 snow season from 9 June with the Perisher Peak Festival, a four-day music event, or enjoy the entertainment at the Thredbo Opening Weekend. The Thredbo Snow Series is also back for 2017, with prizes and the Snow Series title to be won. 

Talbingo is also a popular place to stay when skiing or snowboarding at Selwyn. Explore other historic towns and villages nearby such as CoomaDalgety, Nimmitabel, Tumut and Tumbarumba.
