Kosciuszko National Park activities

Main Range, Kosciuszko National Park

The spectacular alpine environment of Kosciuszko Area offers a wealth of natural attractions to explore, from the stunning vistas surrounding the mountain hikes, to the snowfields, rivers and lakes of the region.

Kosciuszko National Park also gives holiday-makers, adventure seekers and locals activities year-round.

During the winter months the snow draws a thriving community to its townships, with skiing and snowboarding the most popular activities at the ski resorts of Thredbo, Selwyn Snowfields, Perisher and Charlotte Pass.

During the warmer months, take your pick of kayaking, mountain biking, camping, bushwalking, fishing, rafting, caving, or horseriding. There are also some fantastic natural attractions to discover, such as the beautiful limestone caves of Yarrangobilly, furnished with a regal display of stalagmites and stalactites within their caverns.

A scenic drive along the Kosciuszko Alpine Way will also take you through some of NSW’s most dramatic scenery, making it a wonderful summer touring route.

Take a guided walk through the park and learn about the rare alpine plants such as the protected Anemone Buttercup and Feldmark Grass, some of which can only be found in this region. Hike to the top of Australia's highest mountain, Mount Kosciuszko, for an inspiring one-day walk to the summit.

Another great way to experience the natural wonderland of the Kosciusko area is through fishing.

Many of the mountain lakes and streams here are stocked with trout; grab a NSW fishing licence and get fishing at Lake Jindabyne, Lake Eucumbene and the Thredbo River.
