Tareena Old Post Office Station is situated on Salt Creek close to the South Australian Border and was once on the main transport route as an overnight stop for Cobb and Co stage coach run from Sydney to Adelaide. The "Old Post Office" as it was known was built in 1882 and was surrounded by a small town.

The property is located at the head of the famous Chowilla Flood Plains.
