The small town of Bellingen is located on the mid North Coast of NSW, about halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. It’s on the eastern end of the ‘Waterfall Way’, a beautiful scenic drive that stretches from Coffs Harbour to Armidale. Bellingen is a land of rainforests, with beautiful bushwalks, pristine scenery, and plenty of opportunities for kayaking and canoeing, as the Belingen River runs right through the middle of town.
The events calendar in Bellingen is mostly made up of arts, music and cultural events, and much like the wider calendar of Coffs Harbour events, often there is an environmental bent to the creative activities on offer. The Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival takes place each winter and covers everything from fiction to digital writing, the Bellingen Music Festival celebrates the best in classical music, while the Bellingen Turtle Festival is three days of arts and music with the aim of saving the endangered Bellingen River snapping turtle.
