The NSW North Coast town of Yamba sits at the mouth of the Clarence River. Close to the Yuraygir National Park, it’s known for its beautiful beaches and waterways. The days and nights in Yamba are generally warm, which makes it a great destination for a beach holiday. There is also an internationally-recognised surf reserve –– Angourie –– nearby, so it’s also a popular place for surfers to stop or stay. Yamba’s fishing opportunities add another reason to visit; flathead, bream and snapper can all be found in abundance in Yamba’s waters.
Yamba has a year-round calendar of events offering something for visitors of all ages, with a particular focus on ocean-based activities. The region is home to a number of festivals, including the Surfing the Coldstream Festival and the Big River Brew Fest. On New Year’s Day, check out the Yamba Twilight Street Markets, when Yamba’s main street is closed to traffic and packed with local stalls.
