Beach holidays in Ballina
Ballina, home to white beaches and a subtropical hinterland, is famous for its surfing spots and ancient rainforests. The coastline near Ballina is lined with sheltered coves, vast ocean beaches and some of the world's finest surf breaks.
Ballina beaches
The coastline around Ballina has sheltered coves, long stretches of sand and some of the best surf breaks in the country. It also has family-friendly beaches such as Shelley Beach, South Ballina and Lighthouse Beach, which are all patrolled during school holidays.
Go surfing at Boulders Beach, Sharpes Beach or Lennox Head, famous for the right-hand break that attracts surfers from around the world.
The 1.5 km Lennox Reef has an astonishing variety of marine life and is a great spot for snorkelling or scuba diving. Lennox Head is also an ideal place to watch humpback whales as they pass by close to shore during their annual migration.
Take a kayak tour through estuarine wetlands packed with birdlife, or walk the length of pristine sand at Seven Mile Beach, just north of Lennox Head. A network of cycleways and walking tracks make it easy to explore the scenic coastline and riverbanks.
