Cooma Cottage - Yass
Cooma Cottage is a single storey colonial house built in 1835 for pioneering pastoralist Cornelius O'Brien, later, Cooma Cottage became the home of the famous overland explorer Hamilton Hume between 1839 and 1873.
In 1970, the National Trust of Australia acquired this property in a derelict condition and over the next 18 years carried out an extensive conservation program to restore it.
The house is a popular tourist attraction and the grounds make the perfect venue for weddings and other special functions. Today it operates as a house museum and features an exhibition of the life of Hamilton Hume. It is located four kilometres out of Yass.
Opening times
10am to 4pm Thursday to Saturday. Closed mid June to mid August. By appointment.
