The heritage-listed Bethungra Spiral was built in the 1940s and one of Australia's most significant rail engineering feats of its time.

Listed as historically and scientifically rare, the spiral is of great historical significance due to the ambition and scale of the work undertaken, along with the aesthetic and technical values that were achieved. The spiral itself is the only 360-degree rail spiral in Australia and was only the second of its time.

Get a bird's eye view of the spiral from the viewing platform and watch as the trains pass over and through the tunnel. Whilst you’re there take note of the beautiful rail-inspired artwork etched into the side panels of the platform.

The spiral is easily accessed within a short drive from the village of Bethungra.
