Family activities in Tamworth

Come face to face with a menagerie of native animals during a visit to Tamworth Marsupial Park and Adventure Playground. Hand feed joeys, spot colourful birds in the free flight aviary or let the kids run wild at the community-built adventure playground.

You can also enjoy an animal encounter of another kind at the Sunhill Dairy Goats Farm. Situated just 10 minutes from Uralla, your little ones can meet the farm’s resident goats here as they learn about life on the working dairy farm. You can also sample the delicious goats’ cheeses made on site.

While in the Tamworth region, be sure to make your way to Nundle, a historic gold rush village, and spend time fossicking in the Peel River. Hire equipment at the Mount Misery Mine or the Nundle Country Cafe and enjoy a family day out panning for gold and sapphires.

Stop by the Big Golden Guitar Tourist Centre in Tamworth for a great family photo opportunity with the regional city’s iconic monument. See life-like figures of country music artists, such as a Lee Kernaghan, John Williamson and Slim Dusty, at the Wax Museum in the centre, or spend time exploring the Sir Donald Bradman-themed Collectors’ Museum.
