Hay Sunset Viewing Area - Hay
The Hay Sunset Viewing Area is a must for the artist, photographer or those who have never seen a real sunset. Unhindered by tall buildings or smog, the traveller can delight in the magnificence of the sun going down. The full spectrum of colours is present as the sun sets over the plains.
When the sun is set the visitor can linger a little longer to see a real night sky. Without the illumination of the big city, the sky is very black and the stars seem to hang so close because it is so clear.
The sunset viewing area has been developed 16 kilometres north of Hay on the Cobb Highway to enable visitors to experience this wonderful phenomenon, rarely seen by the city dweller. It provides seating and a great backdrop for a picnic.
